Liv made her way in to the store. It wasn't unusual to find the girl here, she made a weekly stop in the store picking up her usual items before heading back to her apartment. Today was no different, she had been walking the park, thus her current attire. It was unbearably hot in her apartment and was still exceptionally warm outside - thought you'd expect a half demon not to mind. And it probably didn't. But her human self did.
The girl hitched her bag further on to her shoulder and pushed open the glass fronted door to the local, tiny store. Her eyes scanned the various things stuck on the inside of the glass. There were signs that people had asked to be displayed, telling of lost items and pets, signs for local businesses and things for sale. Though none of that really concerned her. She was here for a few things and none of those were what were being offered on those little cards. Once a month she'd visit the larger store in the town and stock up for the month, though she made her weekly visits here, to the tiny store for her bread, milk, eggs and chocolate. Occasionally she'd buy a magazine or a bottle of wine. Today was one of those days.
Liv made her way around the store, carrying a basket with a few of her things in it. Her shades were sat atop her head as she looked over the shelves. She always did this - scanned the shelves but she never bought anything but her usual. And then it happened. The same thing that happened nearly every week, she'd be eyeing the chocolate spread and she'd walk in to him. Him. The man she always ended whacking with her basket. She wasn't sure why but all her perceptions and things would go off, like someone, hit a switch, when he was near. And so her usually stellar psychic ability would disappear until they were parted.
And so it was today. She sighed softly and looked up at him, "Sorry. .. Again." she said and half smiled as she realised who he was. "You must have a million bruises because of me." she said and raised her eyebrows a bit.

Gage lived down the road from the tiny store himself, in a quaint condo by himself. It was convenient to get the small things he needed from here. As it was, he hardly spent enough time at home to stock up on the serious groceries, like steaks or things that go moldy too quick. Bread and fruit were an exception. He ate plenty of small things, including sandwiches and all. But his fridge is stocked with frozen dinners and the like. Late nights at the hospital meant either drive through or putting one of the frozen dinner in the microwave. It was all quick. And that's what being a doctor meant.
He happened to like this small store. It had a certain quaintness that the big power stores lost. It was... personal. The employees took the time to know his name. Just that simple gesture made him feel welcome in this big Chicago city. Sometimes, he felt he would be swallowed by the expanse of this city. It was huge and just getting to work was an overwhelming experiencing. He managed it just fine, and he better when his pay check looked the way it did. Which was nice.
Ever since he moved here six months, Gage started coming here, the same day. And it was always the same girl he ran into. The same, gorgeous girl. It seemed like a coincidence at first but when he realized that she made a weekly stop just like he did, he made sure to go on the same day, around the same time.
Always the chocolate isle. He'd come to expect it. He almost worried that she wouldn't show up sometimes but there she was. And there came the next bruise. Rubbing his arm a bit, he smiled at her and shrugged. "It's fine. I don't bruise as easily as you think." He said softly, almost mesmerized by the light in her eyes. Gage shifted his small basket full of small things and frozen dinners to his other hand. "You're missing something..." He said thoughtfully as he looked at her basket. He smiled a bit and grabbed the bag of Reeses Peanut Butter Cups that she liked and put it in her basket. "There ya go. That should do you for the week." He chuckled softly.

Liv chuckled when she seen what he put in her basket. "Ah, certainly know what I like, don't you." she said and smirked a little, glancing to his own basket. She noted all the pre-cooked, just heat to eat, meals and wondered if that's all he ate. Usually she could find that kind of thing out in a flat second but not around him.
Though she did what normal people had to do. She asked. "Do you live on microwave food? It's bad for you, you know." she nodded a little, moving toward the checkout with him, though she walked slowly to prolong the time they would take. Admittedly, Liv never dated. Ever. She didn't do boyfriends and dates, she couldn't. Not around Chicago. You never knew who was what and what was out to get you. And even herself, she had to keep her own secret.
"You should let me make it up to you some time, all those whacks with my basket. I need to buy you a hot dog or a beer or something." she said and grinned a little, pausing as they got to the check out line. There were four checkouts and two that were free, though not beside each other.

Gage smiled at her, nodding. "Well, I take notice of certain things. It's my job." Of course, she didn't know that was his job. He didn't think that she would even know that he was a doctor at one of the best hospitals in the United States. Though how would she? He tended not to wear his money like some of the other guys do. Suites all the time. True, he looked nice today but he did just get off of work less than an hour ago.
And no, he didn't know that she was something other than a woman. He himself didn't even know that he had something in himself that would negate her specialty. Hell, he's never even met a creature other than human.
Glancing down at his basket, he smiled sheepishly. "I know but I barely have time for anything else. I'm always in a rush, you know? It's either this of the McDonald's down the road." He said, walking slowly to match her speed. He had dated before, but so far, not in Chicago. It just hasn't come around for him yet. But he wasn't sure how much longer that will last.
Gage looked up to see the two open registers and the fact that they were no where close to each other. Subtly, he guided her towards one of the open registers and got behind her. He even put the bar between their groceries but he stayed in the same lane. "I feel that may be unnecessary. You haven't hurt me quite enough to earn me a hot dog or a beer. A date maybe, but not so much as beer." He tried to play it smooth, smiling at her as the clerk rang up her stuff.

She smirked a little when she realised what he'd done though she said nothing, putting her items up to be rung through. She watched her hands as she put the cups on the belt. When he said date, she looked up. Her thoughts of non-dating come back to her. Though she couldn't bring herself to out right say 'no. i don't date.' to him. So she just nodded a bit. "Uh huh." she murmured, moving further down the checkout so she could put her things in her rather eco friends shopping tote then pay. Though after getting her change she remained at the end of the checkout, leaning against it as she watch Gage pack up his own groceries. "Okay. Well, I'm Liv." she told him. If he was going to ask her out, they should probably know each others names.
She waited until he told her his before nodding again and reaching in to her purse. She withdrew a little notepad and a pen that had a cute little voodoo doll hanging from one end. She wrote down her name then her number and handed it over. "Well, there's my number. Call me. You know, tonight, tomorrow.. next week." she said and shrugged, smiling a bit. "See you later." she said and grinned, waving to him a little as she walked off, letting him finish with his groceries as she returned to her own apartment along the street.
Inside she sighed softly, going about putting the food away and then opening her candy. She wondered if he would call her. She wondered more if he'd ask her out on a date. Though she was concerned. She couldn't let him know what she was if he did. She didn't want him knowing that she wasn't all human. She opened the large kitchen window and sat on the ledge, looking out and sighing. Such a curious day.

Gage noticed the hesitation in her voice when he mentioned the date. He kept his smile on though, not going to be deterred easily. He would have given her the out if she wanted it but she went on to give her name. Liv. He liked it. Simple. Just what he thought of her. Simple and nice. Though wouldn't he be surprised.
"Gage. Gage Turner." He smiled and went about paying for his groceries as she wrote her number down. Raising his eyebrow at the pen, he smiled and pocketed the number after a glance. "Alright. Expect a call." Gage nodded, watching her leave as they bagged his groceries in not eco friendly plastic bags. He thanked the clerk before taking it all to his call. Curious girl. He thought he had felt the same vibe with her... Maybe not. It was discouraging but he would call. Mostly because he could still take her out as a friend.
It was two days later when Gage got time to call. It was his supposed day off, but he still had his pager on just in case they needed him. They tended to not call or beep but he'd rather be safer than sorry. He had just gotten finished running some minor errands, such as getting his oil changed and what not. Returning home, he saw her number on the piece of paper that hung on his fridge. Under it, he had written "CALL" in big letters and underlined it several times.
So that's what he did. He called and waited till she answered. "Liv! Hello. This is Gage, from the grocery store..." He leaned on the kitchen counter as he waited for her to acknowledge him. Then he asked if she was free and invited her out to dinner at a small little Italian place he had come to like. He tried to make it sound casual, just in case.

Olivia smiled when she answered and it was Gage. Though she couldn't help but tease. "Gage? I don't know a Gage." she teased then smiled to herself, finally admitting she did and listening to date invite. "Yeah. That would be nice." she said and nodded to herself. She was curious now to what this was, he seemed to be very casual but she didn't let it put her off. She asked about the time and things and smiled again. "Okay. I'll see you then." she said happily, hanging up to go and sort things out. She'd at least want to look her best.
And so finally their arranged meeting time was here. She heard his car downstairs and picked up her purse, carefully making her heel clicking way down the stairs - she was only on the 2nd floor. She smiled as she seen him. "Hey. Wow, nice car." she murmured before she got in and buckled up. She couldn't help but look around inside it, smiling a bit. She was impressed. She had her own car too of course but it wasn't as nice as this. It was a bit older and all. Though it was still in good condition and it worked so she didn't mind.
Once they were there she got out with Gage and let him lead them in and all, getting them seated. Though as the waiter asked for drinks orders she knew exactly what she wanted. "White wine. One ice cube." she told him and smiled a bit before looking to Gage and smiling. "So. Think you'll be able to handle real food after all of those micro-meals?" she teased a bit, leaning on the table.

Gage smiled to himself about her teasing. It made him hope that maybe this could be a date date. Either way, he didn't want her to be uncomfortable tonight. He had made sure that the place would be okay and told her that he would pick her up.
When the time came around, he was on time for her in his nice car. He smiled sheepishly at her comment and shrugged. "It's nice. Gets me places." He said, trying to not be boasting about it. His parents taught him better than that. Gage told her she can mess with the music if she'd like. It wasn't a long drive but he wanted her to be comfortable, as stated before.
Once there, he insisted on opening the door for her and all. Couldn't help it. It was inbred in him now. Gage led her in and insisted on a table by a window. He didn't like to be by walls. Felt a little claustrophobic at times. It wasn't an official diagnosis or anything, just the way it made him feel. Once she ordered her wine, he ordered a glass for himself as well. He tended to let the person set the tone for drinks but he would only have one glass, just in case they did beep him.
Chuckling softly at her teasing him, he sighed and shook his head. "I don't know. I think I can try." He said and leaned forward a bit. "I don't get a lot of time to eat real meals. I'm... a doctor over at the medical center." He didn't want to brag, or at least come off that way. Not once has he tried to pick up a girl with the 'I'm a doctor' line. He really tried not to...

Liv raised her eyebrows as he told her his occupation. A doctor. Wow. She couldn't even get herself a job. And here she was in a restaurant with a doctor. She could hardly believe it. She shook her head slightly at herself. "Wow. A doctor.. That's awesome." she said and nodded a little, glancing back up as their drinks were brought over. She thanked the waiter and sipped her wine before flipping through the menu with Gage.
Though soon they were ordering and not long after the food was brought to them. Throughout the meal they spoke of themselves, or random things. She told him how she'd moved to Chicago from LA when she was eleven and lived with her aunt, though now lives alone. And so on. Soon finding herself finishing the last of her dessert. Yes, she did the one thing most girls never do on a date. She had dessert. She'd also had a proper meal. Chicken and bacon risotto. Ha. Take that women's magazines!
Liv sipped that last of her wine, no, she didn't switch to coffee at dessert, watching Gage. "Thank you, for tonight." she murmured and smiled. Though she was half human wine took no real effect on her, unless it was consumed in large quantities, ie, the whole bottle. And though she was merry, she was far from drunk. "I really enjoyed this." she said happily. Surprised herself, after all her initial fear of dates she found this to be rather fun. And though it concerned her her psychic abilities were out of whack she didn't really mind so much. It made getting to know him more fun and interesting. She had to ask questions and poke and prod. She quite liked it.

Gage managed another sheepish smile and shrugged, glancing at the table briefly. "It's okay, I guess." He managed before the waiter brought over their drinks. He had sipped his wine slowly and chose something simple: chicken alfredo. He loves pasta...
In exchange for her background, he did the same. He told her of his origins from London and what school he went to. Gage also mentioned that he was still kind of new to Chicago, only about six months. As they ate, he was rather impressed by her choices. He's never seen a girl eat that much before and it through him off. In a good way, though. He even got a dessert for himself, despite the fact that he didn't have much of a sweet tooth. Only sometimes.
Gage had stopped himself at one glass, switching to water after it was gone. He didn't drink coffee, only tea, so that was out. He smiled at her as they finished up the meal and the check came up. "I'm glad. I was a little worried to be honest." He admitted, getting his card out and paying for everything. "At first, it was hard to get your reaction when I mentioned it the other day." Smiling, he played with his napkin a bit, wondering if she'd be willing to do this again. He hoped. He enjoyed her... conversation.

Liv half smiled as he mentioned her previous reaction to his date request. "Yeah. Sorry. It's just, I don't really do this. I mean, I've never actually done this dating thing before. I was sorta nervous." she admitted and shrugged a little, finishing off the rest of her wine. She played with a glass for a moment before looking back up to Gage. "Do you want to come back to my place for coffee, or tea?" she offered and smiled a bit. She wasn't sure he'd agree but it seemed like a good idea to her. Though she'd never dated before and so had no idea what you were supposed to do.
Either way she gathered her coat and purse and let him take her back to the car so he could take her home.

"I can understand being nervous. You should have seen me before I picked you up." Gage shrugged, nodding to himself. Yes, he admits it. He was sweating up a storm before he saw her. And when he did, his jaw almost came off the hinge. He looked up as she asked him back to her place. He nodded, getting his card back from the waiter. "Tea sounds good." He said, getting up and leading her back out to the car. Gage opened the car door for her before going around to his side.
It didn't take long to get back to her place. Parking, he helped her out and let her lead the way to her place. Once inside, he slipped off his jacket and held it in his arms. Looking around for a moment, he smiled and let her show him around. "You have a nice place." He said, and bit his lip. "I don't know if I told you but you look gorgeous tonight." There. He didn't blush. And he said it without looking like an idiot. Thank god...

Liv was glad when he told her how he had been nervous too. And even more glad when he agreed to come back to her place. She smiled when he told her she had a nice place. And it was, sorta. Neat and tidy, and decorated in peculiar colours. Her living room had white walls - bar one, which was painted purple. Her kitchen had lime green hints, her bathroom was similar to the living room but the wall there was turquoise. And her bedroom, well, he'd see that one day. For now she nodded. "Thanks." Liv said with a grin as he complimented her home and herself, taking his jacket and hanging it up for him before removing her own and heading to the kitchen.
She made him his tea and coffee for herself before sitting with him on the plush cream sofa. How she keeps it clean and stain free is beyond my knowledge. Again, she kept him deep in conversation until their drinks were done. It was then she made her move. Liv leaned over towards him, she paused momentarily to look over his face before she kissed him, seeming to have no regard for if this was what he wanted or not. Though she assumed it was. She even slowly moved a hand to his neck, kissing him for several minutes before leaning back.
Liv grinned a little and raised her eyebrows, her hand slipping to his chest. "So." she murmured, watching him.

Believe it or not, Gage liked the coloring of the apartment. It had a certain charm that his mostly beige and white colored condo lacked. He did what he could but there wasn't much point when he didn't spend most of his time there. It looked great for visitors though. Which was always nice...
He was glad for the tea. It was rare to find restaurants that made hot tea. What was this... iced tea? It sounded atrocious to him. Though granted, it wasn't too bad when he tried it but still, he preferred his tea hot. It wasn't hard to keep him in conversation. Gage found her easy to talk to, which was why it through him off when she leaned over.
For lack of a better word, he was astounded. But he liked it.. He had kissed her back while he could, though when she pulled back he didn't stop her. Smiling shyly, he had moved his own hand to her waist. He didn't want to push any boundaries, but the fact she made the first move was encouraging. "So.." He said softly, biting his lip very briefly. Gage leaned forward this time, letting his lips meet hers.

Liv smiled as he looked back at her and smiled wider as he kissed her again. She kept him lip locked for now, inching closer on the sofa while hey made out. Though first base was going fast and she soon found her hand heading down south on the gentleman. She didn't even pause to ask if this was okay, she was already undoing his pants and quickly moving her hand inside to .. well, get him started.
So the girl was twenty three. And she hadn't exactly had intimate contact in a number of years. So sue her. Hell, she hadn't actually had it since she was nineteen. Eitherway, she was gonna attempt it now. After a few minutes of simply touching him, she leaned back and bit her lip a little before getting up, and pulling him along to her bedroom, stopping by the end of the bed and taking her shoes off before going back to kissing him, her hands working on getting his clothing off.
If only she knew.. About the eyelash living pubic lice.
